BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Loyalty and obedience to the leader has a broad meaning. It is not only limited to obeying all orders and commands given orally but the loyalty meant also covers loyalty in adhering to the nation's regulations and policies, laws and such. The loyalty of the country's citizens and residents to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is the key to Brunei Darussalam's peace, harmony and prosperity. This was among the matters touched upon in today's Friday Sermon entitled "Taat dan Patuh kepada Pemimpin" or Loyalty and Obedience to the Leader.

The imam or prayer leader said that the most unique specialty of Brunei Darussalam is the ties between the monarch and his subjects, there is no barrier between them. The obligation of the monarch to be just to the people while the people's obligation in turn is to be loyal to the monarch. The monarch has an obligation to know the difficulties and comfort, on the other hand, the people is required to be sympathetic to the monarch. Verily, the loyalty of the citizens and residents of the country to the monarch need not be forced or requested as the people realise that being loyal to the monarch is an obligation, especially with a monarch who prioritises welfare and well-being of the citizens and residents until the monarch is known as one who is caring and attentive. His Majesty is also a leader who is dedicated to his duties, just in his decisions or actions and most importantly, His Majesty uses Al-Quran and As-Sunnah as a guideline in the country's ruling and administration.
