TUTONG
Tutong Sixth Form Centre (PTE Tutong) held an investiture for its new student leaders 2016/2017 recently.
In her opening remarks, the Principal of PTE Tutong, Dayang Hajah Murni binti Abdullah emphasised the importance of academic excellence balanced with strong personal characters, morally and spiritually.
"We expect great things from our students though and challenge them to achieve their very best," she added.
A total of 50 new student leaders were elected - 25 students were elected each for the Student Council (MPP) and also Peer Guiders (PRR) 2016/2017.
Awang Syafi'e bin Haji Sabrin was announced as the new President of the MPP 2016/2017, succeeding Awang Md Amirul Hakim bin Hamid.
Awang Md Khairulazmin bin Haji Md Deli succeeded Awang Md Wafiy Fikri bin Ariffin as the new President of the PRR 2016/2017.
Syafi'e has an outstanding academic record - he was the top academic achiever for the recent GCE November 2015 O-Level Examination at his former school, Sayyidina Othman Secondary School.
He is currently reading A-Level Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. His humble and vibrant personality already makes him a highly popular and respected character amongst his tutors and peers, despite only having been in PTE Tutong briefly.
A keen football player, he has also represented his former and current schools in multiple national junior futsal and football competitions.
In his role as the Head of Student Leadership Development (SLD) of PTE Tutong, Sherman Tan said, "With the guidance and full support from the administrative team, I hope that the student leaders and the SLD team can run school based events for 2016 and 2017 smoothly".
Awang Azrin bin Haji Bolhassan, the head of Students' Council, PTE Tutong commented, "It is hoped that the new batch of school leaders will be able to better organise any school programme more effectively while maintaining noble character and professionalism".
