False Information On Rape Cases

There has been no evidence or reports related to rape cases, using various tactics such as ambush or attack to pedestrian that is alone. These matter was confirmed by the Royal Brunei Police Force following its circulation via social media including Whatsapp.
Circulating false reports is a matter taken seriously by the Royal Brunei Police Force. In light to this, the public are reminded that spreading such messages is a criminal offence and punishable under Section 34, Public Order Act, Chapter 148.
Anybody found spreading false information can be sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined three thousand dollars. The Royal Brunei Police Force reminds that rape cases and incidents that jeopardise public safety are taken seriously. The public are encourage to come forward with such information, even to seek verification. Such cases are treated with sensitivity and the public can request for anonymity when providing information.
