Reading Of Selected Verses Competition for Senior Citizens

Takmir committee members and the Muslimah group of Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel Mosque in Kiudang, Tutong with the cooperation of the district's Mosque Affairs office yesterday held a Murattal Reading Competition of selected verses for senior citizens of Mukim Kiudang.

 

13 qari and 5 qariah comprising senior citizens aged 60 years and above took part in the competition. The competition is hoped to improve the reading quality of the participants as well as make Al-Quran reading a daily practice. Prizes were presented by Awang Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Awang Haji Chuchu bin Jalil emerged as the winner of the male category, while Pengiran Hajah Salmiah binti Pengiran Haji Othman won the female category. Also present was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Umarali bin Esung, a member of the Legislative Council.
