Brunei Darussalam will continue to provide solid support in further enhancing the country's involvement with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council stated the matter at the opening of the 38th AIPA General Assembly in Manila, Philippines.

According to Yang Berhormat Pehin, AIPA is becoming mature and sensitive towards its surroundings, with important issues becoming the topics of discussions in the Committees for Politics, Economy and Social, Women's ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, WAIPA and Organisation. Yang Berhormat Pehin stated that the hope for AIPA member nations will continue to move forwards in achieving the collective desire and needs for a life of peace and stability, a sustainable economic growth, sharing of prosperity and social progress to move towards ASEAN 2025.

The 38th AIPA General Assembly was officiated by the Honourable Aquilino Pimentel the third, Republic of the Philippines Senate President. This year's assembly's theme is "AIPA and ASEAN: Partnering for Inclusive Change". Also present was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Clerk to the Legislative Council as well as 6 members of the Legislative Council.
