Thanksgiving Prayer Marks 5th National Family Day

A Thanksgiving prayer was held in conjunction with the 5th National Family Day at mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country yesterday with the main focus at the Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque in Sengkurong in Brunei-Muara District; Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Belait District; Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong District; and Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Temburong District.
Present as the guest of honour at Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque was the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, while at the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque it was the Minister of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman.
The ceremony at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque saw the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, as the guest of honour, and at the Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque, the chief guest was the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud.
The purpose of the thanksgiving ceremony which was held in conjunction with the 5th National Family Day celebration was to invoke the blessings of Allah the Almighty for making efforts to strenghten the welfare of the family institution for community life in Brunei Darussalam to continue to prosper as well as to glorify and enliven the celebration.
The event, organised jointly by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, began with mass Maghrib prayers.
The ceremony continued with the recitation of Surah Yaasiin, Tahlil, reading of a special 'Doa' for the National Family Day and Isyak prayers.
