Parents play a vital role in monitoring their children so that they do not fall victim to drugs and interfere with national security issues. This was among the matters shared during the Monitor Our Children Programme organised by the Information Department yesterday. The programme that was extended to mukims throughout the country was held at the Kampung Tanjong Maya Community Hall in Tutong District.
Present was Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, member of the Legislative Council who is also the Penghulu of Mukim Tanjong Maya. Among the programme's contents are several briefing sessions by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Internal Security Department and Attorney General's Chambers. The aim is to provide understanding to the community towards establishing awareness among parents or guardians on the prevention and control of their children from drug abuse, national security issues as well as unhealthy activities.
