Gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi may have come under attack over social media but it has not stopped her from delivering a fantastic performance and clinching a gold medal in the artistic gymnastics floor event.
Days before the SEA Games 2017 competition, her Instagram account was hacked, with her personal photos wiped out.
Personal photos in the 23-year-old’s Instagram account which has over 112,000 followers started disappearing on Monday.
Her account under the name “Farah Ann” as well as its profile with details of her other social media accounts have been replaced with Arabic writing.
The account name has been renamed to “i BOY” while the profile states that the account is for sale.
There are only three photos in the account, one of which is a selfie of an unknown man.
Farah Ann confirmed on Twitter that her account has been hacked.
“My Instagram is being hacked. I have no access to it and the hacker is deleting my photos,” she tweeted on Tuesday.
However, the mysterious hacking did not faze her as she delivered a flawless performance for the gold medal on the final day of the 2017 Kuala Lumpur SEA Games artistic gymnastics competition on Wednesday.
Farah Ann’s Instagram account hacking follows CyberSecurity Malaysia’s report that 33 Malaysian websites were defaced by a hacker group, believed to be over the SEA Games souvenir booklet blunder that erroneously carried an upside-down Indonesian flag.
Meanwhile, Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said several suspects are still being sought by the police for beating up two Myanmar supporters outside the Shah Alam stadium following the SEA Games football match between Malaysia and Myanmar on Monday night.
“We are exploring all leads to apprehend them as soon as possible,” he said.
It was reported that two Myanmar supporters were beaten up by a group of men at the Bazarena parking lot outside the stadium, sometime close to midnight.
