Opening Ceremony of the 29th Sea Games

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ,Her Royal Highness Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah binti His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah and His Royal Highness Pengiran Digadong Sahibul Mal Pengiran Muda Jefri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien consented to join the Brunei Darussalam contingent in the march past at the Opening Ceremony of the 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this evening. It took place at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

 

Present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council.

 

Also joining the Brunei Contingent in the march past was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah. Brunei Darussalam began taking part in the SEA Games in 1977, and to date has won 12 gold medals, 46 silver and 170 bronze medals, including the three bronze medals won at this 29th SEA games in Kuala Lumpur through the Sepak Takraw event. The country's contingent is taking part in 14 sport events and is led by its Chef De Mission, Pengiran Anak Sofian bin Pengiran Anak Haji Ibrahim. The country's best achievement came when it became host to the Games in 1999, with a collection of 4 gold, 12 silver and 32 bronze medals.
