Brunei International Airport-National Security Exercise

The National Security Committee through the Security Committee for the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Accession to the Throne in collaboration with Ministry of Communications, in particular the Department of Civil Aviation this morning conducted a national security exercise at the Brunei International Airport.
The objective of the exercise was to enhance the capabilities and inter-operabilities amongst security and emergency agencies, as well as private sector organisations in handling any security threats, and strengthening security vigilance and awareness on the importance of security among the officers and staff of the Brunei International Airport. The exercise also tested the level of efficiency in handling and controlling emergencies according to the Airport Emergency Plan,
The exercise involved the scenario of 'unattended baggage' believed to contain explosives left at the Brunei International Airport, including evacuation from the Passenger Terminal Building. The exercise involved more than 300 officers and staff of various government and private sector agencies comprising of the Ministry of Communications, the Department of Civil Aviation, the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF, the Internal Security Department, the Narcotics Control Bureau, the Royal Customs and Excise Department, the Immigration and National Registration Department, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Agriculture and Agrifood Department, the Ministry of Health, the Royal Brunei Company and other Brunei International Airport stakeholders.
The exercise was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications and Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, the Commander of the RBAF, Directors and senior officers of the agencies involved.
