KUALA LUMPUR

 

Brunei Darussalam football team last night began their match in Group A with a good result. The country's team lost 1-2 to the host team, Malaysia. His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, the President of the Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council watched the football match played at Shah Alam Stadium in Selangor.

 

Also present was Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul 'Aleem. Malaysia took an early lead in the 4th minute through Muhd Safawi Rasid. Brunei, however, were level in the 14th minute when Mohd Zulkhairy Hady Razali beat the home team's goalkeeper Mohd Ifwat Akmal Chek Kassim.

 

Malaysia scored their decisive second goal in the 60th minute through Muhd Nor Azam Abdul Azih, to make it 2-1 and gave Malaysia the three points. Brunei Darussalam will go up against Myanmar in their next Group 'A' match this Friday at the UITM Stadium, Shah Alam at 4 in the afternoon.
