RIMBA

Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School is the champion of the 45th Malay Language Debating Competition among Secondary Schools and Colleges Nationwide.  The final contest took place at Rimba Dua Secondary School this morning.

During the contest, Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School beat Saint Andrew's.  The topic was "Pekerja Asing Mencabar Kewibawaaan Anak Tempatan", which highlighted the challenge posed by foreign workers to locals.  Although they spoke spontaneously, the students also learnt to express constructive views and the art of systematic debating.

The prizes were presented by Dayang Nadia Lee Siew Hoon binti Abdullah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education.  Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School in Kampung Salambigar and Rimba Dua Secondary School were joint third.  The best speaker was Dayang Nurfazillah Binti Abdullah Shahibol Rizal from Sayyidina Abu Bakar Secondary School.  The competition was organised by the Co-curriculum Department through the Art and Culture Unit.  Among other things it was intended to enhance the student's skills in public speaking and expressing constructive ideas as well as to find and polish debating talent from among the students.
