The people in the country look forward to the annual celebrations, in conjunction with the birthday of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. In the Temburong District, nine events have been arranged to further enliven the nights of celebration conducted by Radio Television, the Information Department, Mosque Affairs Department, the Islamic Studies Department as well as Kampung Menengah Consultative Council and Canang Putra Group. Last night, a Bintang Kecil Singing Competition was held with 13 participants aged 12 years and below taking part. The competition was the first show to be presented on celebration stage in the area. Prizes were presented Awang Mohd Amir Khairil bin Awang Haji Mahmud, the Temburong District Officer. According to Dayang Izzatul Rasyidah binti Yunos, Chairlady of Bintang Kecil Competition, the aim of the event was to find talents among the children as well as to develop their self-confidence in appearing before an audience not only through singing but also in other fields. For the vendors, 34 stalls or booths were provided. As in the other districts, products on sale in the Temburong District also comprise a wide variety of food, clothes wear, toys other items. For the entrepreneurs, this is an opportunity for them to earn extra incomes. The increasing number of vendors shows that the interest in doing business is actively developing among the people in the country. A 30-minute display of fireworks also lit up the sky over the Bangar Town area last night.
