Representatives from the World Bank's Doing Business team have concluded a 9-day visit to Brunei Darussalam. During the visit they met with various government agencies and private sector companies to assess and verify the reforms implemented by the government to improve the business environment. According to Ms Nadia Novik, one of the representatives from the World Bank's Doing Business team, the data collected from the visit will assist in determining Brunei Darussalam's performance in the upcoming Doing Business report 2018, to be released in October, which measures the efficiency and strength of business regulations in 190 economies worldwide.
The visit included site visit, presentations and technical discussion with relevant agencies on reforms implemented, such as legislative and process changes as well as new initiatives introduced towards making it easier to do business. The World Bank Doing Business index is one of the benchmarks used by Brunei Darussalam to gauge the progress of ongoing efforts to improve the business environment. More information on the Doing Business methodology and rankings is available at 'www.doingbusiness.org'.
