Khatam Al-Quran recitation was held yesterday at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in honour of the upcoming birthday celebrations for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The grandson of His Majesty, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak 'Abdul Haseeb bin Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim, was present as a student participant, and officiating the religious ceremony was the Minister of Home Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Dr. Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong.

Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak 'Abdul Haseeb bin Pengiran Maharaja Setia Laila Diraja Sahibul Irshad Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Rahim, during the Khatam Al-Quran recitation held yesterday at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah.

The event commenced with a mass recitation of Surah AI-Fatihah led by the minister, followed with a special Doa read by the Imam of the mosque.

Over 500 Al-Quran readers, representing the Brunei-Muara District, took part.

Also in attendance were members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) and senior government officials.
