Terawih Prayer and Witir as well as Tedarus at mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country began last night after the Fardhu Isya' prayer.  In conjunction with the start of ramadhan, twelve cannon shots unleashed at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien echoed in the capital.

The welcoming cannon shots were fired by the Military Police of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF.  The forty-two personnel were led by Major Pengiran Haji Rudy Halyamin bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu.  Cannon fire will also signal the time to break the fast and the arrival of midnight for beginning Sahur or the pre-dawn meal during Ramadhan.
