No Bruneians are Affected in Jakarta Bombing

Following the suicide bombing attack at Kampung Melayu, Jakarta Timur in the Republic of Indonesia, the Brunei Darussalam Embassy in Jakarta has informed that no Brunei citizens were involved in the incident.  All Brunei Darussalam citizens, including students who are registered with the embassy, were not at the location of the incident and are safe and sound. His Excellency Retired Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Awang Haji Yussof bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Ambassador Extra-ordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Republic of Indonesia made the confirmation when contacted by the Newsroom of RTB.

 

The Brunei Darussalam Embassy has opened up an operation room and contacted all Brunei Darussalam citizens including students registered with the embassy. Alhamdulillah, all Brunei Darussalam citizens including students registered with the embassy were not at the location and are safe and sound. The embassy will continue to monitor the development of the incident. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has handled the situation and taken several actions in ensuring that the affected area and the whole of Jakarta is in operation as usual.
