The National Registration Department (NRD) yesterday launched its first ever presentation of MyKad under “Projek Hab Percetakan Teragih MyKad-Hab DPP at the Tawau NRD here yesterday

This would soon be followed by other districts, said NRD  Director-General Dato’ Mohd Yazid bin Ramli.

He said this would mean that the MyKad processing period was shortened from 10 days to five working days in Peninsular Malaysia and from 30 days to seven working days for Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the Hab DPP did not have to do with the coming general election and it was purely a value-added program to quicken the MyKad delivery in a short time with low expenses.

Yazid said it also would reduce the cost of courier (Pos Laju) at an average of 28.7 per cent to 41.30 per cent.

For example, in Sabah, he said, one kilogram would cost between RM5.69 and RM7.24 instead of RM12.25 once the Hab DPP was launched.

In Sabah, there was 60.74 per cent increase in using this Hab DPP between April 17 and May 23, this year.

The city of Kota Kinabalu has printed/issued 1,373 MyKad within this period, followed by Ranau (477 MyKad), Kudat (379 MyKad), Tuaran (306 MyKad), Kota Belud (261 MyKad),Beaufort (183 MyKad), Inanam (132 MyKad), Pitas (90 MyKad) and Kuala Penyu (89 MyKad).

Tawau zone itself has printed/issued 252 MyKad for which Lahad Datu has 116 MyKad, Kunak (34 MyKad), Semporna (74 MyKad) and Tungku (24 MyKad).

Yazid added that the Hab DPP was able to reduce the system development cost, labour cost and Pos Laju courier service cost for NRD.
