Brunei Succumbed to Their Third Straight Defeat

BANGKOK

Brunei faced their third straight defeat when they lost to the hosts Thailand 10-0 last night at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-20 Futsal Championship.

Thailand one of the many strong contender to lift the trophy could have made the margin larger but if it is not been for goalkeeper Ak Muhammad Sadullah Shafee Pg Hj Asaduzzaman putting up a few stops and with the host hitting the post five times.

The national side failed to find their sense of playing rhythm but they managed to press the opponents well and play the entire game as a unit. The defeat was followed by 14-1 defeat to Afghanistan on Tuesday night and 6-1 to Iraq last night.

The other Group A games yesterday saw Iraq edge Afghanistan 4-3 and Malaysia beat Bahrain 6-1.

Brunei will face Bahrain today and close out their group stage campaign against Malaysia tomorrow.

Thailand leads the six-team group with nine points and is ahead of Iraq by a better goal difference.
