BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Isra' Mi'raj event is a great miracle after the revelation of Al-Quran. The event contains wisdoms which are still being practised by Muslims to this day and the Day of Judgement, which is the command for performing prayers. Hence, the Isra' Mi'raj is not only a specific event for Prophet Muhammad Sallahualaihi Wassalam, but it can also be shared with the prophet's followers.

The benefits of the Isra' Mi'raj event was among the contents of a special talk entitled 'Iman Teguh, Akidah Kukuh' during the National Level Isra' Mi'raj Celebration yesterday. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam attended the celebration which took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs as the Chairman of the Major Islamic Events Celebrations for 1438 Hijrah Executive Committee; Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doktor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.   Also in attendance were His Majesty's brothers and sons, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel.

The ceremony began with the reading of the holy verses of Al-Quran by Awang Mohammad Sa'adun bin Suhaili, champion of the Final of the National Youth Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran 2016.

The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming speech underlined that it is vital for religious understanding and practises to be strengthened through formal and informal education and controlled from any deviations. Hence, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will continue its efforts to make a success of religious education programmes, through schooling up until higher education, dakwah programmes and the mosque takmir. The Minister pointed out that our society is a strong society influenced by religious understanding and practises. This creates a religious environment that is very conducive for improving religious knowledge and practises.

There was a special talk by Awang Khairul Nazif bin Haji Damit, an Assistant Lecturer of the Faculty of Usuluddin of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA. The talk among other thingss touched on the hidden wisdoms behind the command for performing prayers.

To bless the ceremony, Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti. In line with the theme of this year's Isra' Mi'raj celebration, faith and belief represent the main foundation and pillars in the life of every Muslim.  With strong faith and belief, the hearts of all Muslims will be guided by a single belief on the Oneness of Allah the Almighty and that there is no God but Allah.  To further glorify the Isra' Mi'raj celebration, a number of side events have been arranged including the 'Karnival Mudahnya Sembahyang' or 'Praying Is Easy' Carnival.
