BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN
After the revelation of Al-Quran, the night journey of Isra' Mikraj was another great miracle which was a personal experience for the Messenger of Allah. The night journey involved the Isra' when the Prophet travelled for Masjidil Haram in Makkah to Masjidil Aqsa in Baitulmaqdis in Palestine. It was followed by the Mikraj or journey through the heavenly skies to a place named Sidratul Muntaha. The Isra' Mikraj was a colossal event full of lessons and examples because it was during the journey that the Prophet witnessed many strange incidents and human behaviour, as well the punishments given to them for their sins. The Isra' Mikraj was the subject of yesterday's Khutbah or Friday sermon.
In the sermon, the Imam or prayer leader said lessons and the examples from Isra' Mikraj should be learnt and embraced as a way to strengthen one's faith in Allah the Almighty. In one incident shown during the night journey, the Messenger of Allah saw a man carrying a burden that he was unable to carry, but still he wanted to carry on by putting in more things. The Prophet asked about him and the Angel Jibril Alaihis-salam replied that the man was a person who liked to carry out the trust placed upon him although he was not capable of doing so. Yet, he still wanted to be burdened with new trust. The Angel said in Islam, trust is a big and heavy responsibility and that one should be careful in carrying out the duty. The prayer leader added the scope of trust is broad covering religion, leadership, work, administration, business and many more. The sermon reminded that work is a big trust regardless of what kind of job it is as long as it is halal or allowed by Islam. A leader or an employer naturally would want the worker to be trustworthy. Hence, trustworthiness should be nurtured and practised. The leaders, employers or superiors should show good examples to their subordinates or employees so that trustworthiness would grow in them.
