Brunei Rainforests has been an important area of study for British scientists working alongside Bruneian Scientists, over many decades, to research this country's rich biodiversity. Speaking at a reception to mark Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second's 91st Birthday, last night, His Excellency David Campbell, the British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam also congratulated schools and other local organisations for the initiative in encouraging young people in Brunei to understand and value the pristine forests.
Representing the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the reception was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Ibrahim bin Abdullah, the Minister of Development. His Excellency also praised Brunei's participation in and commitment to the Heart of Borneo initiative. The event was also special commemoration of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy Initiative.
