The Martial arts movement in Brunei traditional silat will be highlighted by a team of local silat athletes during the World Martial Arts Festival. The 6-day festival will be held at Purwakarta, West Java, Republic of Indonesia. Brunei Darussalam is represented by 12 silat practitioners from the Perguruan Seni Pencak Silat Gerak 41. They departed the country this morning.
Present at Brunei International Airport to bid farewell was Awang Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Mohd Yussof, the main instructor of Perguruan Seni Pencak Silat Gerak 41. According to (Retired) Major Awang Rusli bin Bujang, President of the Perguruan Seni Pencak Silat Gerak 41, silat is becoming well-known worldwide as it covers various forms of attack.
