OzSports Festival a Blast

 March 27th, 2017  |  08:27 AM  |   765 views

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

More than 200 children enjoyed a day of sport and fun at Bandarku Ceria yesterday, as part of the OzSports Festival. Organised by the Australian High Commission, with the support of Sports Camps Australia and a huge range of local partners, the festival encouraged kids to get active!

Participants got to try out lots of sports, including netball, tennis, hockey and mountain biking, on the green grass of Taman SOAS.  And when they needed a break, the Festival’s generous sponsors and supporters were on hand with cool beverages and exciting exhibitions to help refresh and re-energise.

Speaking at the festival, Australian Charge d’Affaires, Ms Carol Allnutt, said “Australian’s love their sport, and getting out on the weekend to have some fun with friends and family. The Festival is designed around this idea. The High Commission would like to thank the amazing local sporting associations and businesses who we have worked with to make this event possible.  It has been wonderful to see them share their enthusiasm and passion for their sports with the children today. We hope the kids have had a great time and found sports that they love and will continue to play well into the future.”

In the grandstands, parents were also able to sign their children up for upcoming Sports Camps Australia holiday camps. Mr Mark Whilton, CEO, Sports Camps Australia said “We at SCA are true believers that a love of sport, and an active lifestyle, starts from a young age. Through our PhizzKidz program, we aim to help kids of all ages and skill levels find activities that they enjoy to start their life of sport. Our summer camps program seeks to refine and deepen young peoples’ skills – up to an elite level. We are really pleased to be supporting the PhizzKidz-inspired OzSports Festival today, and to be bringing our first Sports Camps Australia – Nike Camps to Brunei this week.”
