RIPAS Hospital Incident Under Control

An incident has occurred at the Women and Children Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital around 4.24am yesterday. The situation is now under control and according to the Ministry of Health Press Release, all patients and staff who were evacuated following the incident, have now returned to the centre.
Doctor Awang Hazri bin Haji Kifle, the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health, said that 212 patients were moved to specific wards and the Emergency Section of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. The Fire and Rescue Department arrived at the scene at 4.35am in the morning and immediately assessed the incident. According to Doctor Awang Hazri, the Fire and Rescue department identified the cause of the incident as a damaged motor of the vacuum system pump, located at the lower level of the centre, causing smoke to accumulate and seep through to the upper floors. However, no fire occurred during incident. The situation is now under control and the patients have been moved back to the Women and Children Centre of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital.
The Ministry of Heath advises any patients who need treatment for minor ailments can go to the Berakas Health Centre which is operating today until 12 midnight. Meanwhile, the Emergency Section of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital will be operating as usual from 12 midnight tonight. Also present at the Press Conference were Doctor Hajah Maslina binti Haji Mohsin, the Deputy Permanent Secretary, Professional, at the Ministry of Health, Doctor Haji Ahmad Yazid bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Medical Superintendent at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, and Haji Mohd Khairul Anuar bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pendekar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Hasrin, Head of Operation at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital.
