The climax of TAIB's 25th Anniversary celebration yesterday was the presentation of the 25 Year’s Service Awards and Entrepreneurship Programme Awards. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to present the awards.

Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Hj Mohd Yussof, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports as the Chairman of Perbadanan TAIB Board of Directors, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs, the Advisor of TAIB, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar, Chief Shari'e Judge as the Chairman of TAIB's Shari'ah Advisory Committee and Dato Paduka Dr. Awang haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, the Deputy Minister of Finance as a Member of TAIB Board of Directors.

Also gracing the event were His Majesty's brothers and sons, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel.

There was a reading of Al-Quran by Awang Muhammad Azib bin Muhammad Azim, a student of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Institute of Tahfiz Al-Quran.

In the welcoming address, the Chairman of TAIB Board of Directors underscored the 25 years since the establishment of TAIB and its measures to establish Islamic Banking subsidiaries in the near future. Yang Berhormat said it is hoped with the establishment of the Islamic banks, TAIB will progress into the era of digital technology and focus on customer demands inline with changing times, competitive products, broad networking with the Perbadanan TAIB brand becoming an international class Islamic financial institution.

Since its establishment on the 21st of September 1991, TAIB continues to develop and provide quality and excellent Islamic banking services in the country.

At the ceremony, His Majesty consented to present 25 Year’s Service Awards to 17 TAIB employees. The establishment of TAIB was the beginning of Islamic Financial Institutions in the country. It was created in upholding and realising His Majesty's vision and far sightedness to establish an Islamic financial institution that operates according to Shara' or Islamic laws.

His Majesty also consented to present TAIB's Entrepreneurship Programme Awards to 10 selected entrepreneurs. The programme conducted in January 2017, provided local Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, the opportunity to develop their businesses, simultaneously supporting the government economic diversification efforts. The 1st Award was won by Awang Haji Loqman Al-Hakim bin Haji Hamdan, the owner of Syarikat Al-Huffaz Management who received five thousand dollars. Receiving three thousand dollars, was Awangku Ahmad Akram bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad Idrus, the owner of Syarikat Steamy Ridez and Cleaning Services, the runner-up. In third place was Doctor Nirwan bin Nasir, the owner of Syarikat Simvolous Consultancy & Medical Supplies Sendirian Berhad, who also received two thousand dollars.

The Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
