Bandar Seri Begawan

Brunei Darussalam has been celebrating the World Meteorology Day on every 23rd of March since becoming member of the World Meteorology Organisation since November 1984.  World Meteorology Day is celebrated annually since 1961. Last afternoon, a book entitled "Nubivagant" was launched in conjunction with the World Meteorology Day 2017.  The ceremony was held at the arrival hall of the Brunei International Airport in Berakas.

Present at the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mustappa bin Haji Sirat, the Minister of Communications. With the theme Understanding Clouds, it indicates the main role of clouds in regulating the energy balance of the earth energy, water cycle, weather and the overall climate system. The understanding of clouds is needed in the weather forecast, creating models for future climate change impact and also to forecast the availability of water resources. The title of the book "Nubivagant" means wandering through clouds. Through this book, readers can gain useful information and knowledge on the clouds that adorn the sky above. The name "Nubivagant" is chosen as it is unique and suits this year's theme.
