KIGS Students Attended Global Campus in KL

 April 21st, 2016  |  05:09 AM  |   1178 views

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

The recent Global Campus event in Kuala Lumpur gave participating students from Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) exposure to new industries, and the prospect of creating future businesses in Brunei.

During the camp, students attended sessions on 3D modelling and fashion at the Lim Kok Wing (LKW) University of Creative Technology.

They also visited the Royal Selangor Pewter factory to learn about traditional handcrafts.

KIGS Paduka Group brought out the winning project with their Two in One Product,' while Abdul Azis Ifwan was awarded with a prize for Best Leadership.

Abdul Azis was given the responsibility of student leader at the Kuala Lumpur Global Classroom at LKW. He was named the Best Leader overall during the exchange.

"In my experience as a leader, I was challenged on a daily basis, having to be in charge of 38 students from KIGS, while carrying out the given tasks as a student," he said.

Another participant, Mohamad Ramzi Khairi bin Mohamad Ramlee, said that the trip was fun and also educational, giving him broader perspective of Malaysia.

He added that the judges were impressed with his group's presentation on Bruneian culture, which included Ambuyat and Nasi Katok on the go, as well as a Jong Sarat fashion brand.

"We had to create a product that represents Brunei, so we chose Ambuyat and marketed it as Amboi!yat,' in a similar vein to Indomee, using self-boiling technology for the water," said Khairi.

Meanwhile, another Global Campus is scheduled for September, with students from Brunei, Kuala Lumpur and the United Kingdom as participants.
