Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha graced a Gala Night in conjunction with the 5th General Assembly of Friends of Asia Pacific Region World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, FAPW. Also present was Kebawah Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tengku Puan Pahang, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Al-Marhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, Royal Patron of FAPW.
The function was held at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong. On arrival, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri, who is the Royal Patron of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association, was greeted by Dayang Siti Hafsah binti Haji Abdul Halim, the Chief Commissioner of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association and other members of the association.
Also in attendance were His Majesty's daughters and sisters, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah; Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.
The Gala Night was highlighted with several Brunei traditional cultural performances including songs and dances by members of the Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association. They were Brownies from the Mata-Mata Primary School, Gadong and the Haji Mohammad Jaafar Maun Primary School, Kiulap, and Girl Guides from Sayyidina Hassan Secondary School consist of Pandu Puteri Tunas Sekolah Rendah Mata-Mata, Gadong and Sekolah, Kilanas. The musical performances also included a gulintangan presentation by students of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School.
Since its establishment in 1999, FAPW has been supporting and assisting the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, WAGGGS, in raising funds for the association to empower and help develop women from childhood up to adulthood level. The F.A.P.W. general assembly was held to select six new members of the Working Group for a service term of six years.
Before leaving the ceremony, Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri received junjung ziarh from those present. As a member of WAGGGS, The Brunei Darussalam Girl Guides Association is committed to various international projects carried out especially for the Asia-Pacific region; the assembly this time also involved the participation of 93 WAGGGS Friends of Asia Pacific Region members from 13 countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
