Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC), a new joint venture company formed by Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd and Beibu Gulf (HK) Ltd, has been appointed as the new operator for the Muara Container Terminal (MCT) and will start operations today.

This was announced by the Ports Department, Ministry of Communications through a press release.

The press release announced that MPC will exclusively manage, operate, maintain and develop MCT.

"In line with the government's Ease of Doing Business objectives, MPC intends to perform the investments required to improve the overall efficiency of MCT.”

"Further, these investments will facilitate the growth in other industries, such as logistics and manufacturing, which will not only contribute to higher export cargo volumes and cargo throughout but also, in the long term, reduce the overall cost of logistics borne by small and medium enterprises," the press release stated.
