Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held a Flag Raising Ceremony last Thursday in conjunction with the 33rd National Day celebration of Brunei Darussalam. The event was attended by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Joyce Teo Siew Yean, as the guest of honour, UBD principal officers, staff and students.

The ceremony began with the march pass by flag-bearing UBD army Cadet Platoon members and he recitation of Doa, followed by he handover of the national flag from the guest of honour to the JBD Army Cadet Platoon members or the flag-raising event. The flag raising was accompanied by the national anthem and patriotic song 'Berkibarlah Bendera', led by the UBD Student Representative Council.

The ceremony, which was organised by the Student Affairs Section of UBD, aimed to instil the spirit of patriotism and love of for the country within the community, especially the students as the country's future assets.

It also served to support His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's vision for the country in Vision 2035, in line with the theme of this year's National Day `Menjayakan Wawasan Negara'.
