Over the weekend, students of Sinaran Pelangi School celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year on the school’s premises.
The students were wearing bright red outfits and traditional costumes and gained quite a few knowledge from the event such as to why Chinese celebrate the special occasion, why red is a favourable colour to the community, and the importance of family.
In a thriving community, cultural and social integration are of the utmost importance. The school hopes to enrich understanding of belief and culture, and to celebrate the cultural uniqueness of each students.
Students were also busy crafting their own chicken, as it is the Year of Fire Rooster, and then later sang along to the Chinese New Year’s tunes. Delicacies were also served to parents who joined in the celebration.
