BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Jenesys 2016 aims at having those young people to have a look at the “real Japan” and its cultural, economic or technological features and understand its substantial interest and business needs towards Brunei And  disseminate their learning or findings in Japan and promote the relationship going forward between the two countries.

The Peacebuilding program is designed especially for young people who will visit and witness Hiroshima or Nagasaki, the two cities which experienced real atomic bomb in the World War II. Bruneian students will join a big group of 120 young people from 10 ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and India. After spending two days in Tokyo they are divided into groups visiting Hiroshima or Nagasaki respectively.

The students will visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum or Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, discuss peacebuilding with Japanese students, meet people living in Hiroshima or Nagasaki and stay with their host families. Some of the groups will have an opportunity to listen to talk by an atomic bomb victim.

Students will also look and see Japanese cultural features by visiting historical sites such as Sensoji Temple, Edo-Tokyo Museum, Hiroshima Castle or Saga Castle.

Throughout the program students will not only explore Japanese cultural/historical features but also witness and learn the importance of peacebuilding as well as real voices of Japanese people who are very keen to build peaceful relationship with Brunei.
