PB Links Up With Oracle Academy

Politeknik Brunei joins the Oracle Academy Initiative and has become the first registered institutional member of higher education institution in the country to do so.
Guest of honour, Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education (MoD) yesterday morning unveiled Politeknik Brunei as an institutional member under the Oracle Academy in a simple, yet, significant ceremony held at Politeknik Brunei.
Witnessing the momentous occasion were Denis Ho Mun Tai, the Director of Politeknik Brunei; Cikgu Alias bin Haji Abu Bakar, the Acting Assistant Director of Politeknik Brunei and staff.
Mohammad Hamdani bin Mustapa, Acting Head of School (ICT) in Politeknik Brunei in his remarks said, "Oracle Academy with reference to its global mission aim to advance computer science education globally to drive knowledge, innovation, skills development and diversity in technological fields."
Politeknik Brunei aspires to enrich its ICT education experience through value added curriculums pertaining to computer programming, database and emerging IT trends for future innovation that is hoped to contribute towards the ICT development in Brunei Darussalam.
Outlining the benefits of being an institutional member under the Oracle Academy, he added, 'It provides access to course curriculum on Java programming and resource's, Oracle Academy workshops and resources, Oracle Technology software program licenses for education, professional development opportunities as well as professional community engagement as well as Oracle certification."
The Acting Head of School (ICT) also stressed that education is essential for community stability, economic success and future innovation. "Students and educators who engage with Oracle
Academy gain industry relevance, technology-driven skills and knowledge that can enrich their future," he said.
"We welcome more collaborations with industry partners in the near future either to complement our curriculum or to work together on relevant ICT projects that will benefit our students, our future IT leaders," he added.
Each year, Oracle Academy reaches more than 3.1 million students in 110 countries.
In the past fiscal year, Oracle Academy delivered nearly $3.5 billion in resources to help prepare students for life and work in the modern technology driven global economy.
