BDRCS, CARE Handover Stationaries to Underprivileged Students

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Over 100 underprivileged students received new school bags and stationery in a ceremony hosted yesterday by the Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and the Community and Resilient Empowerment (CARE).

On hand to distribute the items at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium was Haji Ismail bin Kassim, the President of the BDRCS.

The school supplies came from public contributions through BDRCS's 'Project Ikhlas 5.0 for Basic School Necessities 2017', which was held earlier this month.

Sheikh Haji Abdul Kadir bin Abdullah, the Secretary-General of the BDRCS, expressed
his gratitude to those who contributed to the project. "We are proud to say that there is still a large part of the local community who feel committed to helping the underprivileged," he said.

The BDRCS has already provided assistance to around 300 underprivileged students across Brunei, and is hoping to extend the project to other districts.

Isham bin Ismail, the Director of CARE, meanwhile said that he was touched by the public response.

He also told the gathering that the next charity project for underprivileged students will be the Riayah Wa Mahabbah' programme under the auspices of the Ministry of Education.
