The Criminal Justice Division of the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) yesterday held its first Muzakarah session of the year with Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officers.
The session was held at the ACB Headquarters at Jalan Airport Lama.
Seven deputy public prosecutors led by Deputy-Head of Criminal Justice Division, Senior Counsel Hajah Anifa Rafiza binti Haji Abdul Ghani, met with 43 officers to discuss common issues concerning the investigation and prosecution of offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Chapter 131.
Among the issues discussed included the use of investigation powers under various Brunei laws as well best practices to be adopted based on cases investigated and prosecuted previously.
The session also discussed avenues in which the AGC and ACB can better collaborate and coordinate their efforts in order to streamline processes leading to more efficient prosecution and investigative results.
The Muzakarah session also afforded the opportunity for ACB investigation officers to be acquainted with deputy public prosecutors of the Criminal Justice Division who specialise in the prosecution of corruption and bribery cases.
The Muzakarah is part of the Attorney General's mission to further enhance collaboration and cooperation between the AGC and enforcement agencies in the pursuit of better quality investigations and prosecutions.
