A local man was sentenced to five years in jail with five whippings after he pleaded guilty in the Magistrate's Court yesterday to trafficking Methylamphetamine.

Daruan bin Herman was arrested in a raid conducted by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officers at a house in Kampong Junjongan Limau Manis around midnight on April 5, 2014.

Officers found 15.6131 grammes of crystalline substances that contained 11.6323 grammes of Methylampehtamine and also discovered $1,072 in cash, which the defendant admitted were proceeds from drugs sales.

DPP Farhanah binti Pehin Dato Suhaili represented the Public Prosecutor in the case presided over by Chief Magistrate Muhammed Faisal bin Pehin Dato Kefli.
