This year marks exactly 60 years of Radio Brunei's establishment. For the radio service to progress further, various efforts are being planned to design and produce programmes with the more easy-listening concept. This is one of the strategies for Radio service to continue to be in the forefront.
Pengiran Ahmad bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Acting Head of Radio Programmes, stated this during the 21st Anniversary celebration of Rangkaian Pelangi FM, yesterday.
Pengiran Ahmad said Pelangi FM reaches 21 years of age this year. The Radio Service Pelangi Channel began transmission of its programme on pilot basis on the 23rd of February 1995 in conjunction with Brunei Darussalam's 11th National Day celebration. Rangkaian Pelangi takes the concept of 80 percent of information and entertainment providing information and presentation of songs in Malay and English, including international hits. Pengiran Ahmad also mentioned the use of the new media in promoting the radio programmes more actively this year.
Present at the ceremony was Awang Haji Muhammad Suffian bin Haji Bungsu, Director of Radio Televisyen Brunei. Apart from being a platform for Radio Brunei to actively continue and develop its role as the voice for the government, the ceremony also aimed to foster closer relations between the Radio staff and the government agencies and the private sector, with the emphasis on several aspects as well as the social and cultural values. The event took place at Wayback Burgers, Giant, Rimba, Gadong.
