Finding solat or daily prayers easy or hard to perform depends largely on the strength of a person's iman or faith. If the faith is strong, the prayers will be easy to perform, if not, the prayers become a burden and the person will be reluctant or lazy to pray. The issue was stressed in today's Khutbah Jum'at or Friday sermon entitled, "The Benefits of Performing Solat or Prayer". In the sermon, the prayer leaders also highlighted that praying brings peace and calmness of the mind as well as happiness.
The prayer leaders said praying can prevent people from committing vices or sins. Performing prayers will assist a person, families and the community to build a pious and moral generation. Performing solat can also help in addressing or solving social problems that ruin society such as corruption, murders, robberies, adultery and other sinful acts. The prayer leaders added praying helps people to gain the blessings of Allah the Almighty. Praying is the main key to halal rizqi or income and it also purifies one's body and soul. The prayer leaders highlighted a hadith or prophetic tradition of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, narrated by Abu Hurairah Radhi Allahu Anhu, that asks, "If a river flows in front of a person's house, and he bathes in it, five times a day, will there be any stains left on his body" The Companions replied, 'No'. Such is the reward for performing prayers that Allah forgives the sins of the person who prays.
