Tremors Felt Around Brunei-Muara Area Causing Mass Evacuation

Tremors were felt around several high rise buildings in the Brunei Muara District. As a precautionary measure, this resulted in a mass evacuation. Evacuated crowds were seen gathering around the Taman Sir Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital. According to sources, buildings including the DST headquarters in Tungku had to be evacuated.
This tremor was the result of the 7.3 magnitude earthquake which struck the deep ocean of Southern Philippines at 2.15pm today. A quake which measure 622km was also felt in Sabah. The Brunei Meteorological Department confirmed that there is no tsunami alert.
No injuries or incidents were reported during the brief tremor.
