Remember the time when the question was 'Should we join the website bandwagon?'
Now as technology continues to evolve giving way for new trend setting, a new question has now emerged - 'Should we build our own mobile app?'
Currently, in other countries there is an explosion of mobile apps, where institutions, corporation and agencies are developing their own mobile apps as mobile telecommunication devices are becoming the norm of life.
A technology specialist at Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd, Mohammad Izzudin bin Haji Md Hussin 'foresees that this mobile app development trend will catch up in Brunei Darussalam and the market for it will be pervasive.
At the moment, there is no independent training in Brunei for those interested in mobile app development. Now, in support of this phenomenon, to further develop the talent pool of mobile application in Brunei, Tech One Solutions Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) is currently holding pilot courses on mobile app development, including Android, iOS and Windows platforms.
The pilot course for Android mobile app development was conducted with participants selected primarily from the CodeNext 2015 initiative organised by AITI and TruSynergy. The target audiences for the course are mobile app enthusiasts, programmers, and coders. No prerequisite is required.
Courses for iOS and Windows-based mobile app development are scheduled to be conducted later in the year, according to Tech One Solutions. CodeNext was a platform to expose youth and professionals to the world of programming aimed at raising awareness and interest towards programming and app development by providing the opportunity to learn and create simple apps.
The Android base mobile app development course is currently conducted by Wan Muzaffar bin Wan Hashim, a Mobile Development Corporate Trainer (iOS and Android) with four years experience from Malaysian based IT training centre, iTrain (M) Sendirian Berhad, Southeast Asia's number one IT training centre, renowned for introducing international Silicon Valley solutions to local Malaysian companies. Apple has also taken iTrain for iOS education outreach programmes in Southeast Asia and Google is nominating iTrain as one of the first Google Web Academy's in the world.
The five-day course concluded yesterday.
Wan Muzaffar said with this certificate and several months of experience, the successful participants can further continue on this path by taking a professional certificate.
Technology Trainer, Awang Mohammad Izzudin, said the pilot courses will try to evaluate training prospects in these three mobile operating system platforms.
