The Ministry of Education (MoE) celebrated the Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) birth anniversary yesterday at the main hall of MoE's building.

The guest of honour of the event was Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Acting Minister of Education.

The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Haji Ali Yusof bin Haji Ali Arshad, Imam of Kg Pelambayan Mosque followed by a special religious lecture in line with this year's theme, `Berwawasan Yang Berkat Dengan Bercontoh Kepada Rasulullah SAW' delivered by Ustaz Hisham bin Ismail, an invited speaker from Islamic Da'wah Centre, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

The ceremony was also enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban performance by a Dikir group comprising officers and staff members of the ministry.

The celebration aimed to instil a sense of love towards our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as well as to commemorate the struggle and sacrifice of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in upholding the teachings of Islam and to encourage the members of MoE to constantly practise Selawat upon Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

This year's celebration was organised by the Department of Curriculum Development, the Secretariat of Brunei Darussalam National Accreditation Council and the International Affairs Unit of the MoE.

Also in attendance were Datin Dr Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam; Professor Dr Hajah Zohrah binti Haji Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei; Hajah Anis Faudzulani binti Haji Dzulkiflee, Acting Director General of Education, heads of departments as 'well as officers and staff members of the MoE.
