BAG Hold WAW! Brunei Darussalam 2016

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

BAG Networks as of late took another jump forward in its dedication to develop women entrepreneurship through innovation.

This was announced by Haslina binti Haji Taib, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BAG Networks, in her podium speech entitled 'Women and Innovation: Crossing the Glass Border' that was delivered at the World Assembly for Women (WAW!) Brunei Darussalam 2016 with the theme `Entrepreneurs - Women - Technology: Crossing the Glass Border'.

The annual event was held by the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam and co-sponsored by the High Commission of Canada in Brunei Darussalam with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS), and CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre.

In the speech, Haslina gave a background on the role of women in the economy through the pillars of innovation and technology, from the perspectives of her former involvement in APEC, as well as her ongoing engagement with local entrepreneurs.

Due to the limited domestic market, many of these business owners, more than half of which are women, realised the necessity of expanding overseas.

However, as shared by Haslina, local businesses had numerous concerns on the barriers to going abroad.
Haslina posited innovation as the solution to these challenges, collectively dubbed as the glass border.

In conjunction with WAW! 2016, BAG Networks sponsored a set of mature local entrepreneurs to join the CENDANA e-business community, an ICT-enabled springboard for these businesses to build an economic presence online and cross international boundaries.

This marked the first of many sets of entrepreneurs that would continue to benefit from the latest e-business innovation led by BAG Networks, via its eBunda women entrepreneurship development programme and the CENDANA e-business community platform.

BAG Networks is no stranger to e-commerce technology, being the main driver and organiser behind the highly successful APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC)'s Cross-Border E- commerce Training (CBET) Workshop 2015 in Brunei.

The workshop was attended by 40 business delegates from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, USA, China and Hong Kong, as well as members of die diplomatic corps in Brunei.

This foray led to the launch of CENDANA in 2016, in conjunction with the opening of Darussalam Enterprise's Business Support Centre, as the most effective online business management and e-commerce platform to help drive the growth of the local private sector.

According to Haslina, "CENDANA represents a community of like-minded people, ranging from startups to multi-national corporations, who are passionate in building businesses and in making a difference using ICT as the main enabler.

"Hence, our eBunda network of women entrepreneurs fits naturally as a partner in the CENDANA e-business community."

"Through CENDANA's e-commerce capability, which includes easy-to-use and secure online payment methods which will soon be released, we aim to bring together businesses within and outside the country to maximise the international digital market's growing potential," she added.

The CENDANA e-business community members also benefit from its cloud-based online business management functions, either as an all-in-one system or by modular options, accessible anytime and anywhere.

Additionally, members may avail of implementation support, training and customisation services, all provided locally by the CENDANA team at BAG Networks.
