Local Receive Fine for Smuggling Illegal Cigarettes

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

The Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday ordered a 25-year-old local man to pay a $5,200 fine after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of smuggled cigarettes.

Muhammad Yazid bin Abdul Wahab will have to serve five months' imprisonment if he fails to settle the fine within two months.

The defendant was caught by Customs examiners at the Kuala Lurah Control Post carrying 14 cartons of cigarettes in a vehicle he drove in at 2.20pm on November 16, 2016.
