Schools Take Part in Malay Poetry Competition

A traditonal Malay poetry competition was held yesterday at the auditorium of the new Information Department building.
The competition was divided into three categories: 'National Competition for Menambang Syair for Secondary Schools, Colleges and Pre University'; 'National Malay Poetry Writing Competition for Secondary Schools and Colleges'; and 'National Malay Advisory Poems Interpretation Competition for Pre-University and Technical Education Institutions'.
Four teams competed in the Menambang Syair' competition. Meragang Sixth Form Centre emerged as the winner of the competition with a score of 87.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, Raja Isteri Peñgiran Anak Saleha Secondary School won second place with a score of 84 per cent and Lambak Kirk Secondary School won third place with 63.23 per cent.
Nurul Jannah Wajihah Afifah binti Armanshah from Berakas Secondary School emerged as the winner of the Malay Poetry Writing Competition, while Dayangku Khairunnadirah binti Pengiran Kamaruddin from Rimba II Secondary School won second place and Md Nooraffazly bin Md Nooraffdillah from Bërakas Secondary School won third place.
Dayangku Hazirah binti Pengiran Saifuzzaman from Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College won first place for the Malay Advisory Poems Interpretation Competition, while Siti Nur Ehsani Kamaliah binti Abdullah from Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College won second place and Aural Yaseerah binti Husny from Meragang Sixth Form Centre won third place.
Acting Assistant Director of Curriculum Development, Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Mohd Yussof, presented the prizes to the winners in his capacity as a personal representative of the Director of Curriculum Development.
