JALAN STADIUM, BERAKAS

A total of 126 students of Year 8 from Sungai Akar Arabic School yesterday participated in a Khatam AlQuran ceremony at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas.

The guest of honour was Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Harun bin Haji Junid, who later presented certificates to the Khatam participants.

The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by the guest of honour, followed by the reading of verses from the Al-Quran by participants. It then continued with the recitation of Takhtim by Year 7 students.

Later, a recitation of Doa Khatam was led by Year 8 student Awang Ahmad Nasyaruddin bin Haji Abdul Rahim.

The ceremony was enlivened with a Dikir Marhaban by Year 7 students of the school.

Among the objectives of the ceremony were to celebrate students who have completed reading 30 Juzuks of Al-Quran and to ensure the recitation of the Al-Quran is considered a lifelong practice and guidance for students.

Also in attendance were the Director and Assistant Director of Islamic Studies, heads of divisions, principals, officers, teachers and parents as well as the guardians of the students.
