Imam Says Happiness, Suffering are Allah's Test

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Believers are required to be faithful always to Allah the Almighty - whether in times of joy or hardship, said Imams in the Friday sermon

"Those undergoing adversity and great suffering often feel as if they are being put to the test by Allah the Almighty. But when they are showered with happiness and wealth, they forget that those are given to them by Allah the Almighty," the Imams said.

The sermon also reminded Muslims not to be too distracted by material comfort and affluence.

"These are only transitory and a test from Allah the Almighty. We are either drawn closer to Allah the Almighty in gratitude for all the bounties, or otherwise. These comforts are a trust from Allah the Almighty for us to use wisely, and when we are showered with blessings, we must not forget Him."

Muslims were encouraged to keep their hopes up in times of adversity and draw closer to Allah the Almighty through constant prayer and remembrance.

"Let us pray to Allah the Almighty for patience in the face of hardship, and for faith in Allah and the Prophet (pbuh), in times of joy and suffering," the Imams said.
