His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam arrived in Madinah Al-Munawwarah. Accompanying His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were members of the Royal Family.

Upon arrival in Madinah Al-Munawwarah, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri were welcomed by His Royal Highness Prince Saud Khalid Al-Faisal, Deputy Governor of Madinah.

Whilst in Madinah Al-Munawwarah, His Majesty and Her Majesty visited the Maqam of Rasulullah Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam and performed Subuh prayer as well as ibadah at Raudhah in Masjid An-Nabawi.

For Muslims, Masjid An-Nabawi is the second most holiest place after the Masjidil Haram in Makkah Al-Mukarammah, and the second mosque after the Quba Mosque was built by Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam when he made the pilgrimage to Madinah. The mosque has a sacred area namely Raudhah ul-Jannah (Gardens of Heaven) because of its sacred nature as mentioned in the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad; including the tombs of His companions, Sayyidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq and Sayyidina 'Umar bin Al-Khattab.
