Unhygienic Public Toilets Unbearable

 October 22nd, 2016  |  10:21 AM  |   636 views

Bandar Seri Begawan

The unhygienic condition of public toilets at a public area in the capital has raised concern among members of the public.

The area is located next to some food stalls and close to the ticket counter at the boat jetty where a lot of people including foreign tourists gather to board the boat to Temburong District.

Many passengers waiting for the boats said smell coming from the nearby public toilet is unbearable at times.

"The condition of the toilets is so pathetic. It is quite embarrassing for locals and foreign tourists. What kind of an impression they will get about our country?" asked a frequent traveller to Temburong.

The traveller, who wished to remain anonymous, added that there are days when he has seen tourists standing quite a distance from the area while waiting for departure.

They will still smile and greet other passengers, despite being uncomfortable with the stench, and it is quite an embarrassing situation.

With relevant authorities working out efforts and initiatives to keep Bandar Seri Begawan lively, vibrant and beautiful, the latest being the Bandarku Ceria' initiative, it is high time that they take a look at this matter and take action so we will be known not only as the abode of peace but also as a country practising good hygiene, said another passenger.
