BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN

Tinkerbell Learning School recently celebrated the annual United Nations Day under the theme 'Refuge for Refugees - A Right to a Future' at the Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan.

It was a grand and colourful event where all the students had the opportunity to showcase their talents on stage in front of their parents, teachers and guests.

In a speech, Iidil Rahmah binti Abdullah, Principal of Tinkerbell Learning School said, "The prosperous nations have the responsibility to take in the displaced citizens of the world and provide an opportunity for them to make their lives better again. This is what being humanitarian is all about - to be a good citizen of this world."

The 'parade of nations' was one of the awaited activities where children showcased the different costumes of their chosen countries.

This was followed by presentations and performances by students that included calisthenics, local traditional dance, Philippine folk dance, song interpretation, poems, modern Japanese dance, choral singing and musical drama of Jong Batu.

A musical drama, Jong Batu caught the attention of the audience as it is one of the tales most remembered by adults and children alike which reminds us of the importance of respecting our elders. The event ended with a group singing of 'It's a small world'.
